Biking is fun.

I’ve really been enjoying the commute to/from work on my bike. I feel energized all morning when I bike to work, and the ride home is great for unwinding. I actually look forward to the ride now, rather than think of reasons I should drive instead. I’ve got my time down to between 20-25 minutes at around 15mph total which is pretty good on a mountain bike… I’ve created a new page to keep track of my times. Last week I had to replace a broken pedal on my bike, fortunately it broke slowly and i was able to make it home okay. I also picked up a handlebar end mirror to help me stay track of traffic around me better. Glancing back over my shoulder didn’t work too well since I’d be looking around my glasses which means the cars were blurry blobs… More rides to come. Stay tuned!

Haha! I’ve been reading up on road bikes too, although what I think I really want is a cyclo-cross bike. And then I remember that I only ride 5 miles and my bike works fine for that… My ride must be easier since I don’t really get too stinky in the morning… the ride home now, that’s a different story when it’s so hot out! You paid for your backpack in gas savings yet? I know somebody is counting…

hah! I’ve got 5 more rides to go… I know what you mean about the cost of a new bike vs. a five mile commute. I was wondering about just putting road tires on the Kona… maybe.

I pretty much go uphill the entire trip to Ada… I love riding home… with just two hills up to my house.

Yeah, my Giant Iguana does have “slicks” on it. From what I read that does make a big difference. Lucky for me it came with them when I bought it used a few years back for a steal.
