I have been reading some fun blogs lately about ladies who plan a once-a-week (or two weeks, or month) family night. They choose a theme and plan a dinner and activities accordingly. One shared a ‘Back to School’ family night where they packed their dinners in brown bags, went on a pencil hunt around the house, had story time together, did a craft, and ate a ‘back to school’ cake that was decorated like a chalkboard.
My initial thought was, “How much fun! I’ll have to remember this and use it if Tony and I ever have kids.” A couple weeks later, after reading about another exciting family night I thought, “Why wait?” So last weekend Tony and I had our first official “family night.”
Here is a run down of our ‘Asian’ Family Night:
First, we went to a lake in Plainfield to fish for Koi :
(OK…so we were fishing for bass, but Koi fits the theme so we’ll pretend.)
Then we went out for Chinese food:
And then we went to the movies to see Kung Fu Panda
Tony and I pretty much hang out together all the time, but it was nice to be intentional about the time we spend together. We had a great time, and I’m already planning our next family night for Thursday. Stay tuned!

That is sooooo clever!
I am sure you had fun. Scott and I should plan intentionally once we figure out if we can figure in a “date” night again.

What a wonderful evening. I listen to Randy Carlson every day on the way home from work on a radio show called Intentional Living.
